Origins

This boutique business has been directed by Cher Thornton since 2008. Cher grew up in British Columbia next to a rose farm with mountains and rainforest all around. She moved to Toronto to pursue her degree in Environmental Studies and along the way realized she was obsessed with fashion history and textiles. Vintage fashion combines her love of quality and unique romanticism with a love of the outdoors and natural environment. She is passionate about helping like minded brides find a special gown for their wedding.

Cher got married for the first time in September 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic. If you’d like to read about her choices and experience check out the upcoming blog Vintage Bride Gets Married.

Social and environmental responsbility: a circle of love

One of the reasons we have always loved vintage clothing is because by definition it is recycled and uses no new resources. Not only does wearing and supporting vintage fashion prevent new materials and resources from being used, it also removes articles from the waste stream. It is the true definition of circular consumption !

Wedding dresses are often only worn once, which is an incredible waste of resources. It makes sense to re-use, repair or redesign them to save the planet.

As a small counter culture business we align ourselves with the struggle and rights of others on the fringe. We actively support the rights and equality of all genders, races and religions.

Best Ever Chocolate Chip COokies

Also Gluten Free !

There is extra space here so we thought we would include the reason our pants no longer fit since the pandemic cancelled weddings and gave us little to do except bake. These go great with whiskey.

3/4 t kosher salt

1/2 t baking soda

10T unsalted butter (or 1 1/4 sticks, or 140grms)

1/2 c brown sugar

1/2 c white sugar

1 egg

1 1/2 t vanilla

12oz chocolate bits of your choice, we like dark or semi sweet

sea salt for finishing

350 degrees, until desired level of gooeyness / crispy edges
